Mini Face Lifts
This is a rejuvenation technique used on relatively young people whose faces are beginning to show the effects of the passing of the years. It is a minimally invasive operation with rapid recuperation. For this reason it has become known as the weekend face lift.
The objective of mini face lifts is not to take years off a young face, but rather to refresh it, restoring its lost smoothness and freshness. A local anaesthetic is used supported by sedation. It is an operation that usually lasts one and a half hours.
Bandages are removed after 48 hours. This operation leaves hardly any ecchymosis (bruising), and so once the bandages are removed the face is almost back to normal. The stitches are removed after a week.

What is a mini face lift?
It is a rejuvenation technique used on relatively young people who wish to refresh the appearance of their face.
Who needs it?
Normally patients are between 35 and 45 years of age.
It is a minimally invasive operation with rapid recuperation. This operation restores the face's lost smoothness and freshness.
A local anaesthetic is used supported by sedation.
Firstly incision lines are drawn in front of the ears and then the incisions are made. This makes the scars imperceptible. Then various centimetres of the skin are peeled back from the cheeks allowing access to the deepest muscles and fascia on which the real work of rejuvenation is then carried out. The excess skin, which is usually minimal, is then resected and the incision is closed with an intradermic suture.
Duration of the operation
The operation usually lasts for approximately one and a half hours.
Bandages are removed after 48 hours. This operation leaves hardly any ecchymosis (bruising), and so once the bandages are removed the face is almost back to normal. Stitches are removed after a week.
What are the risks?
Complications are very rare with this type of operation, but like any surgical procedure it is susceptible to infection and the accumulation of blood under the skin due to unexpected bleeding. As the skin detachment is minimal necrosis and alopecia, which is more common amongst heavy smokers who have a more extensive face lift, does not usually occur.
Do not take aspirin for a week before the operation.
It is helpful to take vitamin A, E and C supplements for two weeks before the operation.
For the first 48 hours after the operation it is advisable to apply ice to the operation site, but with occasional breaks in this treatment.
Frequently asked questions regarding mini face lifts.
How long do the effects of a mini face last?
The duration of the mini face lift depends the patient's skin care regime after the operation. The duration is affected by whether or not the patient exposes him or herself to the sun and on whether the patient hydrates the skin and protects it adequately. As a general rule a further operation is not required for up to 10 or more years.
