“The signing of an informed consent is a guarantee for the patient that he\/she has received the necessary information about the entire surgical process he\/she is about to undergo before starting the procedure and his\/her decision to accept the surgery or treatment.”<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

The doctor is obliged to provide this information in certain procedures and the patient has the right to receive it. Informed consent is the way of reflecting in writing that this right has been made effective<\/strong>, as well as the patient’s agreement to undergo surgery<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

What do they imply?<\/h3>\n

An informed consent implies that information has been received, the risks and benefits of the intervention have been assessed, alternative treatments have been offered, all the patient’s possible doubts about the procedure have been clarified, and finally the patient has made the decision to undergo the procedure.<\/p>\n

Why are they necessary?<\/h3>\n

Before making the decision to undergo any type of intervention, procedure or treatment, the patient should know all the details of the procedure, the objective result and the risks involved, as well as possible alternatives and consequences.
