This filler is an endoprosthesis composed of alkylimide and water, commonly used to treat facial fat loss, known as lipoatrophy, which is frequent in HIV-positive individuals. It is also used for facial rejuvenation, wrinkle filling, lip enhancement, and in other areas of the body for buttock and calf augmentation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

How was this study on Bio-Alcamid conducted?<\/h2>\n

In the cited study, the medical records of 263 HIV-positive individuals were reviewed, all of whom had been treated with an antibiotic before and after the procedure. Despite the use of antibiotics, 19% experienced an infection at the injection site some time after the treatment. The BioAlcamid itself was responsible for the infection in 5% of the patients.<\/p>\n

Due to these results and the growing concern in recent years about infections associated with BioAlcamid, it would be advisable for individuals to consider the use of other types of facial fillers.<\/p>\n
