Hypertrophic nipples<\/strong> are a malformation; they are very long and, with aesthetic surgery<\/strong>, it is possible to achieve an appropriate size.<\/p>\n

The most common cause of this problem suffered by some women is breastfeeding, or an alteration in breast development. The result of this hypertrophy is excessively elongated nipples, which may even fold over themselves or hang down, a circumstance that can cause complexes in intimate life.<\/p>\n

The plastic surgeon<\/strong> makes an incision at the lower base of the nipple to remove part of it and sutures the outermost part to the areola, therefore bringing it closer to the breast. The effect achieved is rejuvenated breasts, with rounded nipples in harmony with the rest of the breasts.<\/p>\n

The anesthesia used is local with sedation, without hospital admission. The scar is barely visible; it is on the nipple itself and is concealed by its darker color.<\/p>\n

Other malformations such as Poland syndrome<\/strong> are a genetic defect in which the affected woman is born with the pectoralis major muscle and\/or other adjacent muscles very poorly developed or completely absent, which causes the absence of the breast or breasts that are very small and deformed. The aesthetic surgery indicated in these cases is breast reconstruction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Athelia<\/strong> is the congenital absence of the nipple. In this case, nipple and areola reconstruction is performed, which the surgeon creates using skin and cartilage from the patient\u2019s own body. The result is a much more natural-looking breast, although it should be noted that in no case will breastfeeding be possible, as this is only an aesthetic remodeling.<\/p>\n

Polythelia<\/strong> (or supernumerary nipple syndrome) refers to the existence of more than two nipples on a person\u2019s torso, which are located on the abdomen and are usually small and poorly formed. Surgery removes these nipples.<\/p>\n

There are other alterations of the breast due to different pathologies that affect a person\u2019s health and self-esteem, but if they are benign conditions, they can be solved with reconstructive surgery.<\/p>\n
