Today, secondary or reconstructive surgeries<\/strong><\/a> are performed very often. Normally, this type of surgery has to be done because of a poor result from a previous surgery.<\/p>\n

One of the problems in secondary rhinoplasties<\/a> is the so-called \u201cinverted V\u201d<\/strong>. It is recognized because the patient, from a frontal view, presents two depressions similar to an \u201cinverted V\u201d<\/p>\n

What causes it?<\/h2>\n
    \n
  • Lack of continuity between the bone and cartilage portions<\/li>\n
  • Excessive resection of the cartilage portion<\/li>\n
  • Excessive filing of the dorsum, which causes tearing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    How do we improve the problem?<\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. By making a graft that expands the dorsum<\/li>\n
    2. Covering the dorsum with a synthetic sheet.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Factors to take into account in any Rhinoplasty<\/h2>\n
        \n
      • Shape and size of the nasal cartilages<\/li>\n
      • Condition of the nasal bone<\/li>\n
      • Skin type; thin skin allows more to be seen than thick skin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        It is estimated that one in ten patients needs secondary surgery.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
