Prestigious Venezuelan doctors later joined the campaign, and in December 2011 they succeeded in getting the relevant authorities to ban the controversial biopolymer injections.<\/p>\n

Among the victims of the substances in question were many women with limited financial resources who had resorted to this filling method to save money, but also wealthy celebrities who had fallen into the trap of those who assured them that biopolymer injections produced excellent and fast results.<\/p>\n

The message “Say No to Biopolymers”<\/em>, which gained strength over time, became even more powerful in 2012 when Venezuelan journalist Tayle Castellanos spoke on television about her own experience with biopolymer injections to correct areas of sagging in her buttocks:<\/p>\n

“I searched the Internet and found wonderful things. I met five people who recommended it to me and sold it to me as a harmless product.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But the reality was that the injected substance migrated to her back and heels.<\/p>\n

“Three months after the injection I started having back pain that made it impossible for me to walk,” said the young woman, who was 29 years old at the time.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It was precisely in 2012 that the first secondary cosmetic surgery procedures to remove biopolymers<\/a><\/strong> were performed. One year later, in 2013, the association of biopolymer victims became a non-profit foundation.<\/p>\n

Since then, given the difficult financial situation of many people affected by biopolymer injections, the “Say No to Biopolymers”<\/em> Foundation, which supports more than 3,500 affected women, has funded many biopolymer removal procedures.<\/p>\n

The foundation also organizes educational prevention forums, provides legal assistance to those affected, and informs victims about successful biopolymer removal techniques, as well as the importance of having these procedures performed by qualified professionals.<\/p>\n

Although the warnings seem to have had an impact on public opinion, misinformation about biopolymers continues to circulate, making it necessary to keep working to eradicate these harmful practices. That is why the “Say No to Biopolymers”<\/em> campaign remains active.<\/p>\n

Although Cl\u00ednicas Fern\u00e1ndez Blanco is not part of this association, we believe it is a great initiative to help those affected by what we also consider to be a mistake: biopolymer injections.<\/p>\n
