Although bald men are trendy, even though many men voluntarily choose to shave their heads, the truth is that hair loss<\/strong> is still traumatic for many men, who are always looking for a treatment that helps them solve their problem effectively and safely. Just ask Jos\u00e9 Bono, or Hilario Pino, whose revived heads of hair made rivers of ink flow!<\/p>\n

It is worth clarifying from the start that not all types of baldness are the same, and that in this post we are going to talk about an unbeatable solution for the type with an androgenetic origin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The androgens<\/strong> are the hormones responsible for hair loss<\/strong>, a process that is, in principle, irreversible. In principle. Because it can indeed be repaired by transplanting living follicles from other areas to the crown and the receding hairline, using a hair micrografting technique known as the FUE technique.<\/p>\n

What does it involve?<\/p>\n

The follicular unit extraction<\/strong>, in English Follicular Unit Extraction (hence the acronym: FUE), consists of extracting hairs one by one from the donor area (the occipital or rear part of the scalp) to later transplant them into the recipient area.<\/p>\n

The procedure requires local anesthesia, sometimes assisted with sedation, and is performed on an outpatient basis. This means the patient can quickly return to their usual activities.<\/p>\n

The hairs will then continue to grow naturally, though not immediately; it is rare for growth to begin within the first month, it most often happens during the second month, and in some exceptional cases you have to wait a bit longer, three or four months.<\/p>\n

A wait that is worth it, because the results of this minimally invasive surgical procedure, which is safe and effective and leaves barely visible scars, are spectacular.<\/p>\n

Lastly, one caveat. We have said that the treatment is perfect for baldness of androgenetic origin. However, it is also applicable to other cases, for example, post-traumatic alopecia in both men and women. It can also be used to complement other surgical procedures.<\/p>\n

In short, follicular unit extraction is performed on small or medium areas, requires local anesthesia, is not painful, leaves no sutures, and allows patients to return to normal almost immediately (with a few precautions: no contact sports, for example).<\/p>\n

A FUE technique<\/a> that is safe and effective, though not the only one. There are others, which we will talk about another day.<\/p>\n
