The paradox, only apparent, took hold in the media following the latest public appearance of the actress we all knew, and whom some fell in love with, for her role as Bridget Jones, a character, by the way, very concerned about her looks.
Although, in view of the transformation, perhaps not as much as the actress who played her on the big screen, whose physical change—spectacular—has led many to try to answer this question: what has Renée Zellweger had done?
The specialists consulted by the press have delivered their verdict: evidently, an eyelid surgery, and that is the key. She has also had her cheekbones touched up, her lips, has had botox injected…
Curiously, she now seems to have more wrinkles, perhaps because to the surgical alterations we must add another notable one: she has lost a lot of weight. And she has also changed her hair color. In addition, the years that have passed since her rise to fame have taken their toll… in short, the list is long.
We do detect, however, in the media treatment of the news a substantial difference compared to other recent ones. Here, when it comes to deciding whether the change is positive or negative, opinions do not coincide: some like it, others do not. But nobody dares to say—because it would be untrue—that the “new” Renée is a woman physically ruined. We have only seen her in photos, but if we met her now, and we did not have an image of her for comparison, it would not catch our attention.
Nothing like, therefore, those other plastic surgeries that, because they are excessive or unfortunate, harm those who undergo them—some of which have been brought up these days because digital media never miss the chance to place a striking photo carousel with the before and after of those who, with greater or lesser luck, decided to undergo cosmetic surgery.
The only thing everyone agrees on is what is obvious: plastic surgery (rather, plastic surgeries, since although this last one has been the most radical change, the evolution has been happening for years, and it is likely that in the process there have also been many secondary plastic surgery procedures) has changed her face so much that we know it is her because they tell us, but Renée Zellweger is no longer the Renée Zellweger we knew.
