Some topics are clearly harder to talk about than others. It’s not the same to visit a doctor to ask about liposuction or breast augmentation as it is to inquire about intimate surgery—something many people find difficult to bring up.
We’re talking about procedures performed to rejuvenate and enhance the intimate areas—a type of surgery that’s increasingly in demand, aimed at restoring elasticity and symmetry to the external female genitalia while significantly improving their aesthetic appearance.
We’re referring to procedures such as labiaplasty (reduction of the labia minora and/or majora), pubic liposuction (reduction of fatty tissue in the mons pubis), vaginal tightening (a reduction of the vaginal muscle to improve muscle tone and elasticity), and clitoroplasty.
Today, we want to focus on this last procedure.
Clitoroplasty is a surgical intervention performed when there is clitoral hypertrophy that causes discomfort.
This hypertrophy—meaning an excessive enlargement of the clitoris—is typically caused by a hormonal imbalance between estrogen and testosterone. It can also result from the use of anabolic steroids and is often accompanied by increased hair growth.
This abnormal growth can cause various issues, including discomfort when wearing tight clothing, pain or unease during sexual activity, and even an increased risk of infections.
The treatment involves concealing it—no, we don’t mean denying it! We’re talking about surgery. A small incision is made around the clitoral hood, and the clitoris is folded inward like a telescope. The procedure lasts between 30 minutes to an hour, and general anesthesia is not always necessary. After surgery, the patient may experience either increased or decreased sensitivity in the area for three to four weeks, so we recommend abstaining from sexual activity for a period of twenty to thirty days.
Finally, we’d like to remind you that, according to various sources—including the Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery—intimate surgery procedures in Spain are increasing year after year. They are requested by both men and women, and satisfaction rates exceed 80%.
