Whenever someone complains about the condition of their thighs and buttocks, there’s always someone ready to blame their lifestyle, their lack of exercise: “You should work out.” But the truth is, working out doesn’t guarantee beautiful—or even firm—thighs and buttocks.
And if that’s the case under normal circumstances, imagine the situation when thighs and buttocks are in a disastrous state after, for example, significant weight loss, when the skin in those areas seems to separate from the muscle. Or due to natural aging, as the skin loses tone over time. Or because of poor nutrition. Or, in the case of women, following pregnancy.
In such moments, cosmetic surgery becomes the only solution: improving the shape and firmness of the thighs and buttocks is possible with a lift.
The theory is simple: pull the skin both upward and inward, elevate the sagging tissue, and improve body contour. The method varies depending on the patient’s needs and the surgeon’s preferences.
For a thigh lift, incisions can be made only on the inner thighs, near the groin or in the gluteal fold, or in a circular fashion, or even on the outer thighs—or both inner and outer areas at once. The important thing is for the procedure to be effective, with as few and as discreet scars as possible.
As for the buttocks, to improve the appearance of flat or sagging glutes, the minimal procedure removes excess skin and lifts the hanging tissues. Sometimes, this two-step process is complemented by another cosmetic procedure—fat grafting—to restore the round, full appearance typical of the buttocks.
Afterward, recovery is usually quick. Most patients can return to normal—or nearly normal—life within 48 to 72 hours. However, they’ll need to wear a compression garment for a period (around a month), and manage any discomfort or pain with the medication prescribed by their doctor.
As for scarring—one of the biggest concerns for any patient—we focus from the start on making scars as inconspicuous as possible, and over time, they tend to fade.
