Blame it on the fashion of increasingly shorter shorts, which leave exposed an area that used to be almost always well covered, or on the impossible victoria’s secret models, whose extreme thinness gives ideas, not always reasonable, to teenagers around half the world; the fact is that the latest trend is clear: what is in fashion are super slender legs with a thigh gap, and every day more women sigh not only for having slim thighs, which they do as well, but above all for having separated thighs.

Can anyone have a thigh gap?

The problem is that not even slim women are guaranteed that their thighs won’t touch, because it does not depend so much on weight as on each person’s morphology.

Where did the thigh gap beauty canon originate?

It seems that, like so many others, this obsession was born on the catwalks. More specifically, according to Barbara Greenberg, author of teenage as a second language: a parent’s guide to becoming bilingual, after the 2012 Victoria’s Secret show.

Be that as it may, and whoever’s fault it is, this aesthetic trend (which, like any fashion worth its salt, has a name and in Spanish: “Hueco entre los muslos“, literally, thigh gap) has taken hold, going against not‑so‑old beauty canons, although it has been years since women began to prefer their legs to be not very voluminous, straighter.

How can you achieve a thigh gap?

If women want a thigh gap, they do not sit idly by; they look for ways to achieve it. Losing weight is not the solution, because as we have already said, even if a woman is very thin, the gap is not guaranteed. Exercising can help, but muscle development will rarely result in the desired gap.

Definitely, the solution involves modifying the body artificially; that is, undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure to remove body fat from the inner part of the thigh.

According to some statistics, it is mainly women between 35 and 40 years old who request this type of liposuction, which is actually a liposuction like any other of the almost 20,000 liposuctions performed each year in Spain.
