Many people can’t start the day without a cup of coffee. Caffeine is a powerful stimulant that supports intellectual activity, invigorates the body, and relieves fatigue, but when consumed in excess, it can cause anxiety, headaches, and irritability. Regular consumption of caffeine leads to the body adapting to it, which may trigger withdrawal symptoms and drive the consumer to look for coffee substitutes to feel the same benefits this beverage offers.

That’s why today we’ll show you the ideal substitutes for caffeine, so you can finally break free from this addictive drink. Let’s get started!

Who should not or cannot drink coffee?

Coffee is not recommended for people who suffer from conditions like gastritis, hypertension, and heart problems.

What are the substitutes for coffee?

There are several alternatives or varieties of coffee. Below we detail the ones you can use to replace it, along with other infusions that are great for your health:

Decaffeinated Coffee

This is a product that is expensive to produce, as it undergoes a process of soaking in water and methylene chloride to remove about 98% of the caffeine from the beans. This chemical method is less expensive than the natural process, which involves just washing the beans in water and filtering them through a cloth, and is therefore the most commonly used. The caffeine is not 100% eliminated, but the result is a less flavorful coffee.

Dandelion

Made from roasted dandelion roots and sometimes mixed with a bit of chicory.

Burdock

A brew made from the roots of this plant, also with a touch of chicory.

Yannoh

Made with rice, soy, barley, wheat, or wild herbs. It’s a powder quite similar to coffee in color, flavor, and aroma. No sugar is needed

White Coffee

Originating in Lebanon, it is made with coffee but tends to be healthier and milder because it is diluted with more water and a few drops of orange blossom water.

Ginkgo biloba

It is a plant capable of stimulating circulation, and it also helps relax our body, which makes it ideal in cases of sleep disorders.

Kola

It is a plant better known simply as kola, and although it is a good reducer of both fatigue and the main symptoms of depression, it helps fight tiredness by stimulating the nervous system.

Maca

It helps strengthen the immune system, while increasing the natural energy of our body.

Rooibos

It is a rather relaxing drink, but with a delicate flavor and a very refined aroma. It is recommended when we want to rest well or simply relax, and above all enjoy good digestion.

Tea

Bearing in mind that there are different types of tea, choosing one variety or another will depend directly on the benefits we want it to provide. White tea is much richer in antioxidants than green tea (although green tea is also rich in antioxidants such as polyphenols), while red tea helps burn fat.
