Jawline contouring in men: gonion implants

What are gonion implants?

Gonion implants are solid silicone implants placed on the sides of the jaw. This creates a more prominent jaw effect, resulting in a more virilized face.

How are gonion implants grafted?

The procedure is simple and lasts around an hour and a half. It is performed through incisions in the oral mucosa, on the outer side of the jaw, at the level of the premolars. There, a pocket is created up to the mandibular angle, beneath the masseter muscle. Afterwards, the implants are inserted and fixed with a titanium screw, closing the incisions with absorbable sutures.

What is the postoperative period like?

The postoperative period is not aggressive or painful, although discomfort while chewing may appear during the first few days. Around four days after the procedure, the patient will notice that the swelling decreases and any possible bruising disappears, although bruising rarely occurs. There are some tips for a better postoperative period:

• Application of local cold
• Lymphatic drainage sessions to help reduce inflammation
• Take the medication prescribed by the doctor.

What if I am not satisfied?

On the other hand, if you are not satisfied with the result, you should know that their removal is very simple. In addition, no marks from the procedure remain.
