The Spanish Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (AECEP) published a study based on the opinions of the 127 professionals who make up the association, a survey in which we sought to predict what 2016 would be like for our specialty.
“The days of large breast sizes, expressionless faces, and lips excessively loaded with Botox are behind us — we read. Naturalness will be the main objective of plastic surgery patients in Spain during this year.”
Naturalness as the Main Objective
In this blog, we have been discussing topics that we believe matter to and concern you in relation to cosmetic surgery. We are guided by instinct and experience because we know the concerns that accompany you when you call us or visit our clinic, and because experience tells us which issues in our professional field are most appealing to people interested in our specialty, whether as simple observers or future patients.
However, there are times when the content of our article, our post, is shaped by current events or dictated by a study that we consider interesting in the field of cosmetic surgery.
The forecasts (which are nothing more than educated guesses, although obviously whispered by years of accumulated experience) indicate that:
- Breast surgery will continue to be the most requested operation, although those who need it will probably seek less ostentatious results. Implant replacement to reduce size is expected to become more common.
- Secondary breast surgery for lifting and repositioning.
Beyond breast surgery, according to the survey, 2016 will be the year of:
- Liposuction
- Minimally invasive aesthetic medicine (Botox, hyaluronic acid, laser treatments, etc.)
- Rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty. It will also confirm a trend we have been observing for some time: the incorporation of men as patients in cosmetic surgery.
In short, many months still remain before we know whether plastic surgery professionals are not only good doctors but also good fortune tellers. But whether or not these predictions come true, the very fact that we make them in these terms gives us a clear idea of the field in which we operate. Both us and you.
