Liposuction is a procedure that has been performed for more than 20 years. Technological advances, and specifically advances in the technique, have made it possible for surgeries to be minimal and in hard-to-reach areas, in very small areas; this surgical procedure is called mini liposuction.
These cosmetic surgeries are performed under sedation and local anesthesia. It is outpatient surgery; the patient can lead a normal life but needs compression bandages, which must be worn for between 15 days and a month.
The techniques are increasingly advanced and very small cannulas are used, which, combined with procedures that produce skin retraction, deliver highly satisfactory results.
Fat deposits are very localized in the wrists, the ankles, and the calf and knee areas are increasingly in demand; these are small touch-ups that slim and beautify the legs.
Also in certain areas of the breasts, there are generally two areas of localized fat: the area that rises up toward the armpit and the base of the breast toward the side.
The areas on the sides of the legs and the abdomen are the most requested, especially after pregnancy or after menopause in women.
Men turn to more extensive liposuctions to remove fat from the abdomen and chest, (gynecomastia). This type of procedure is associated with patients who have neglected themselves for a while, then start getting in shape and cannot manage to eliminate chest fat.
